Commissioner Grant O'Fee MNZM

Commissioner O'Fee joined Tonga Police in 2012. Prior to taking up the office of the Commissioner, O'Fee was a former New Zealand Police officer with 30 years of service. During his time in the New Zealand Police, he held a range of positions and appointments.

Grant O’Fee’s career in policing began in 1968 when he joined the New Zealand Police as a Cadet. Thereafter carried out duties in Beat Section and I Car. In the early 1970’s he was assigned to undercover duties. Worked Criminal Investigation Branch up Detective Senior Sergeant and received Commissioned Officer status in 1987. began as a Shift Inspector and then elevated to Area Commander in Porirua for 5 years.

O’Fee joined the New Zealand Police Armed Offender Squad in 1972. He remained in this Unit and appointed as Commanding Officer at Inspector rank in 1995. In 2000 he was District Commander in
Tasman and Officer Commanding the first NZ Police Contingent to East Timor in 2006. From 2009 to 2011 O’Fee led security operation for the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand as Operation Commander.

Commissioner O’Fee is married to Kathy and is father of four daughters.
