Rumors that Commissioner Grant O’Fee is resigning

The Commissioner of Tonga Police Grant O’Fee would like to set the record straight regarding rumors that he is resigning from his position as the Commissioner of Tonga Police.

It has also been brought into the attention of the Commissioner that his Deputy Commissioner ‘Unga Fa’aoa has been demoted while Acting Deputy Commissioner Salote Tonga has been dismissed from the Tonga Police.

            It is understood that these rumors are based on the information released that the Commissioner is under Investigation on a Cabinet decision. This rumor was brought in to the attention of the Commissioner of Police by members of the Tonga Media.

            “I am not resigning, Tonga has not being dismissed or Fa’aoa demoted,” confirmed Commissioner of Tonga Police Grant O’Fee.

Housebreaking, Robbery and rape at a household in Sopu

 

Tonga Police is on the lookout for any information that could help them with their Investigation of a housebreaking, robbery and rape at a household at Sopu.

 This incident occurs between 2:00 am and 3:00 am Wednesday, 11th of June where the suspects broke into this house and allegedly tied up the 47 year old victim while robbing the house.

 Police believes that the suspects were 3 to 5 male in their early 20’s. One of the suspects allegedly raped the victim while the others robbed the house.

 The victim asked for help from her neighbor whom contacted the Police. The victim is working closely with Police to help them with their Investigation.

 Stolen goods include cash over $2, 000, 2 TV Flat Screen and other bottle of liquor.

 Police welcome any information that could help with their Investigation.
